Gamalier Avilés, 68, of Collegedale, TN, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011. A native of Santiago, Chile, he resided in Collegedale for the past 33 years and was a member of the Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church and was also one of the founding father's of the Collegedale Hispanic Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was the son of the late Ramόn and Felisa Avilés and was preceded in death by two brothers, Juan and Alejandro. Survivors include his wife, Ana Avilés; three daughters, Viviana, Anita and Esther; two sons, Rubén and Gabriel; 14 grandchildren; three sisters, Marta, Sara and Margarita; five brothers, Daniel, Manuel, Ramón, Eleazar and Ciro. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Jim Herman officiating. Interment will be in the Collegedale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Sunday.
