George R. White, Sr.

Born on August 6, 1938, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, George lived a life of faith and kindness. He found great joy in his family and many dear friends. He owned and operated Ooltewah Roofing Company for many years and was a well-known and respected mechanic in the Ooltewah community.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Opal White; mother, Willie Lafay White; brothers, Rayford and Namon White; sister, Lafay Davis; daughter, Sheila Nunley; and son, George Reece White Jr.

He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Akins and Carol Akins; his son, John White; and many extended family members and friends.

He is now at home with the Lord, free from pain and rejoicing in His glorious presence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with John White officiating. Burial will follow in Ooltewah Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, May 18, 2026, at the funeral home.
