Gordon Thomas, 87, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born in Forney Creek, North Carolina to Columbus Lamar Thomas and Mary Ann (Maynor) Thomas. Gordon served in the US Army. He worked at Grocery stores for a number of years as well in road construction at APAC Inc. Known as a gardener and avid outdoorsman, he loved being on the move. Survived by Mildred (Ammons) Thomas (spouse of 60 years), Lori (Thomas) Overcash (daughter), Dean Somers (son). Also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters (George, Lucille [Burris], Ollie [Williamson], Mary Ellen [Sawyer], Andrew, Vincent, Elbert, Edward Joe, and Freddy), and was survived by one sister Helen (Harris). He was also survived by two grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and was preceded in death by one grandson, Logan Somers. Memorial services will be held at Center Point Baptist Church of LaFayette, Georgia on March 21, 2026 at 11 am. He will be given military honors at the service
