

She was the daughter of the late Cain Tiffen Shell and Rose Modena Masters Shell and was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Louis Young and brother, Norman Tiffen Shell.
She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on February 26, 1925 and married the love of her life in Columbus, Mississippi on December 9, 1944.
Hazel loved her family, spending time in nature and Christmas. She was as excited as a little child during the Christmas season.
She was a member of Morris Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Jerry W. Young (Sandra), of Chickamauga, GA, three grandchildren, Tara Simpson (Chris), Tasha Walton (Casey), Tory Young (Veronica), four great grandchildren, brother, James Frank Shell (Evelyn), of Chattanooga, TN, sisters-in-law, Daisy Shell, Scottsboro, AL, Martha Kate Shell, of Chattanooga, TN, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 12 noon, on Friday, March 7, 2014, at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Bill Mason officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga.
