Herbert Allen Hughes

Herbert Allen Hughes, 85, of Ooltewah, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 18, 2020.

Herbert was born in Chattanooga, TN and raised in Whitwell. He was a graduate of Central High School and retired as the Director of DOT air transportation in Georgia. He was an avid musician and a member of Silverdale Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dollena Hughes; grandson, Andrew Barnwell; great-grandchild, Michael McAdoo; and his parents, Thomas and Mary Hughes.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Betty Hughes; sons, Thomas (Yvonne) Hughes, Allen (Susan) Hughes and Dennis (Donna) Hughes; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 PM on Thursday, May 21st at the funeral home.

We respectfully request that "social distancing", wearing masks, and all CDC measures be adhered to at the funeral home and the cemetery.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 22nd at the funeral home with Pastor Tony Walliser officiating.
