James N. Estes Sr.

James N. Estes, 86, of Collegedale, TN, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015. A native of Huntington, WVa, he has been a resident of the Collegedale area for the past 68 years. He was retired from Combustion Engineering and also McKee Foods Corp. and was a member of the Ooltewah Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Collegedale VFW and the Collegedale American Legion. He was preceded in death by two wives, Phyllis Estes and Doreen Estes; granddaughter, Samantha Estes and daughter-in-law, Kim Estes. Survivors include his daughter, Lori (Jim) Bennett, Collegedale; four sons, Norman (Lois) Estes, Houston, TX, Tommy Estes, Collegedale, Jacky Estes, Maryville, TN and Russell Estes, Collegedale; sister, Mary Burke, Collegedale; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ooltewah Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Pettengill officiating. Interment will be in Collegedale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Valley View Chapel. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service. Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
