He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Rachel Poteete, daughter, Sylvia Lavon Poteete and a sister, Vera Barefoot .
He was a member of the Standifer Gap Seventh-day Adventist Church where he served as both a deacon and greeter. He was active in numerous church activities and truly loved his Lord and church.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was an avid gardener. He worked in the cabinet industry, in the Collegedale area, for the past 50 years as a master craftsman.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Dessie Camp Sullivan Poteete, of Ooltewah, TN., step- daughter, Sherry Leech, of Cleveland, TN., step-son, Terry Sullivan, of Apison, TN., and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Collegedale Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
