John L. (Bobby) Armstrong, 73, of Decatur, Tennessee passed away Thursday, January 7, 2011. He was a native of Sweetwater, Tennessee. Bobby was a graduate of Tennessee Military Institute in Sweetwater, Tennessee. He served in the United States Air Force. He was of the Methodist faith. Bobby owned several businesses in Sweetwater, Tennessee. He was employed by Royal Brass and Hose of Knoxville,Tennessee with several “Salesman of the Year” awards. He and his wife, Karen, owned and operated “Cottonport Fish N' Camp” in Decatur for several years.
Bobby was an avid motorcyclist. He represented the United States Team in Spain at the International 6 Day Trials.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents J.L. and Grace Wood Armstrong, a sister, Patricia A. Kinnard, and a son, Barry W. Armstrong.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Karen Dixon Armstrong of Decatur, Tennessee, one son J.L. (Jody) Armstrong III, 2 daughters, Leslie Haywood and Amy Armstrong, 2 grandsons, J.L. (Jake) Armstrong IV and William Andrew Armstrong, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, Valley View Chapel, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421.
