John "J.C." Coy Goins Jr.

He was born November 14, 1927 to parents, John Coy Goins, Sr. and Alma Gertrude Benson Goins. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee. He graduated from Kirkman Vocational School and attended Tennessee Wesleyan and Tennessee Temple Universities.

J.C. served in the US Marines. He retired as Instrument Mechanics Supervisor at TVA Central Laboratories. J.C. played baseball and slow pitch softball in Chattanooga and semi-pro baseball with the Giants. He was a 50 year member of Harrison Masonic Lodge No. 114 F&AM and the IBEW Local 175.

J.C. enjoyed Tennessee football, the Braves, hunting, fishing, farming, gardening, bee keeping and RVing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry L. Goins; and sister, Patsy Delehanty.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Rebecca Stokes Goins; brother, R. E. Goins; sister, Carolyn (Norman) Harris; daughters, Dianne (Hector) Valentin of Panama City, Florida and Sharon Goins of Athens, Tennessee; granddaughter, Heather (Jordan) Goins; and great-granddaughter, Allie Whalen.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, February 29th at the funeral home with an 8 PM Masonic Lodge Service.

Funeral Services will be at 11 AM on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the funeral home with Pastor John D. Jones officiating with visitation again one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Mitch, Ken and Wayne Goins, Eugene Baker, Mike Allen and Jarrod Stokes.
