Karen Duggan George

Karen was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend whose greatest joy was found in the people she loved. She was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church, where her faith and church family were an important part of her life.

Karen shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Larry George. Together, they had a great love for traveling and made countless memories along the way. Karen and Larry traveled throughout the United States, visiting every state except Hawaii. Their adventures also took them throughout Canada, and Karen especially enjoyed Alaska, a place she loved so much that she visited four times. For Karen, traveling was about much more than seeing new places, it was about experiencing life alongside the person she loved.

Above all else, Karen loved her family. She was an amazing aunt and was especially devoted to her niece and great niece and nephew. She took an active part in their lives, sharing in their joys, encouraging them, and creating memories that they will always treasure. Her love for her family was evident in the time she gave them and the genuine interest she took in their lives.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Virginia Duggan; her beloved daughter, Melissa Ann George Dunnavant; and her brother, Sonny Duggan.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Larry George; her sister, Joy Goode and brother-in-law Ken Goode; her niece, Leslie and her husband, Artie Higdon; great-niece, Sheridan Gannon: great-nephew, Zach Gannon; great-great-nephew, Milo Gannon; great-great-niece, Ellie Gannon; and other family members and friends who will deeply miss her.

Karen leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories—from journeys across the country and Canada to the simple, meaningful moments spent with those she loved most. Her family will remember her for her adventurous spirit, her devotion to those she loved, and the special place she held in their lives.

Graveside services will be Friday, September 18, at 11:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery.
