I worked with Kurtis at Aldi for about a year. To this day, I have yet to encounter an employer as genuinely supportive, & honest as Kurtis. I very quickly became a Lead Associate. He had more faith in me than I did. As a classic over-thinker and a perfectionist to a fault, I was on the verge of tears the 1st night he left me in charge of closing the store. I think I actually begged him to stay at one point. I asked him, “what if I mess it up?” Kurtis kind of laughed & said, “Brenna, anything you ‘mess up’ can be fixed. Making mistakes is a part of learning.” He said it casually, this became something that I repeat to myself often, even 3 years later. To this day, when I make a mistake, I repeat what Kurtis told me & try to give myself a little grace. Kurtis stood up for his employees too. A customer was heckling me, claiming I’d shorted him $5. The customer became belligerent & aggressive. Kurtis immediately came to my defense. He argued with this man, counted my till, & when the man still refused to back down, Kurtis actually shoved a $5 bill from his own wallet into the man’s hands to get him out the door as quickly as possible so that the situation could be resolved. I’ve never had a boss back me up like that. Kurtis was also very hard-working with an amazing work ethic. He was incredible at his job. We had a running challenge to see if I could beat him on Curbside Delivery. I don’t think I did. No matter the part of the store we were in, Kurtis could likely outpace anyone. Overall, his kindness & support has impacted my life more than he probably knew. I’m honored to have known him as a coworker & was saddened to hear of his passing. I would’ve sent this in a card (a card doesn’t have a 2k character limit), but I didn’t know who to send it to, & as I’m not feeling well, I can’t make the drive from Alabama for the service. Hopefully this reaches the right people. I pray comfort & peace over all Kurtis’s family and friends. He truly was a phenomenal human being.

We met at work, and from the very beginning, you were always a protector. Our friendship flourished, and our circle grew stronger because of you. The bond we shared was unshakable, and my love and respect for you have never faded.

To your family, I offer my deepest condolences. I know in my heart that Kurtis is hugging his grandma up in heaven.

This came as such a shock. He was my boss for several years, but genuinely cared about every single person around him as human beings, not employees. He’d always go to bat for us and gave us more than a few good laughs. The entire crew to this day says he was the best boss ever, and genuinely such a good human. ❤️

Kurtis and I met on a game and became fast friends. He was the laughter I needed when my day was not so great. He always was encouraging and supportive. He was my gossip buddy,cheerleader, YAASS girlfriend, my smile when I didn't have one, my protector when I needed one and most of all my family. I will miss everything about you and love you dearly. Oh Kurtis, this is a hard unexpected one. We always said we were going to meet back up in VA but never did. All the memories we have had while growing up together will forever be cherish. I love you cousin and may you fly high over us in paradise. ❤️🕊️💋

I'm am so sorry to hear about his death . 
Haven't seen him since he was a young adult and moved away. He kept in touch with my brother daughter  Jessica we r so sorry to hear this . Our prayers go out to his family and friends and prayers for everyone .
