Born June 30, 1938, she loved cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed being part of her local senior citizens group in Birchwood, Tennessee, and cherished the friendships she made there.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Scoggins; her sons, James, Tommy, and David; and her grandson, Justin Gilreath. She is now reunited with her husband, all of her sons, her siblings, and other loved ones…a beautiful reunion.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Gilreath (Lawrence); granddaughter, Julie Turner (Brandon); grandson, Jason Gilreath (Amanda); her half-sister, Norma Walker; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends, including her special niece Rhonda Queen and nephew Darren Gray.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 8th, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory & Florist – Valley View Chapel, 7414 Old Lee Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37421. A Celebration of Life service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Plowman Cemetery in Apison, TN.
