

Marcia Watson, age 86, of Wears Valley, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 6, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Wears Valley, Tennessee. She graduated from Townsend High School where she played basketball and was a member of the 1953 State Basketball Championship Team and was inducted into the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville. For over 40 years she owned and operated Creekside Motel in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. She loved collecting artwork by Robert Tino and will long be remembered for her hospitality and love of cooking delicious country meals for her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles A. McGinnis Sr.; parents, Maurice and Ina Ownby; sister, Ada Lea Ownby Huskey; granddaughter, Meghann Norah McGinnis Newman; nieces, Teresa Huskey, Renae Huskey Morgan, Regina Huskey Davis; great nephew Jeremiah Kibria.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, James Max Watson of Wears Valley, Tennessee; two sons, Chuck McGinnis (Melanie) and James Ashley Watson all of Wears Valley Tennessee; daughter, Lea Pike (Stephen) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; four grandchildren Ashley Joy McGinnis, Jacob Charles (Amber) McGinnis, Caitlin Elaine McGinnis and Mary Elizabeth Pike; five great grandchildren, Caleb Hughes, Conner Nottage, Lillian McGinnis, Eleanor and Judah McGinnis; two nephews Michael Huskey (Frances) and Dalton Huskey and several great nieces and nephews; special friends, Pam and Whitney Stinnett and Family; caregivers, Karen Geilenkirchen, Debbie Rawlston, Faye Bledsoe, Sherre Carney and Connie Suero. The family would like to also thank Covenant Hospice, Hospice of Chattanooga and the Staff of Martin Boyd Christian Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at First Baptist Church, Sevierville at 2 PM with Rev. Jerry Bear Hyder, Rev. Scott Andrews and Rev. Scott Carter officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12 Noon until 2 PM at the church. Graveside service and interment will follow the service in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
