Marcy was born in “JamDam” Michigan near Wilson in a log cabin on the family farm. Her family the “Wery’s” and “Routheaux’s” were some of the first members of the Wilson Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1879. She is the second of three children born to Alice Wery Smith and Lawrence Smith. She graduated from Cedar Lake Academy in 1948 and subsequently Emmanuel Missionary College (Andrews University) majoring in a secretarial degree. She married Dr Robert Rogers (deceased) and raised four children together in Melbourne, Florida. She worked for the Florida and Georgia Cumberland Conferences. Marcy lived many years in Orlando, Florida with a family of close friends while working at Florida Hospital as the CEO secretary. After retirement she married the love of her life Don Rickrode, and lived in Waynesville, NC. She lost Don to cancer and moved close to her children in Collegedale,Tennessee at the time of her death.
She is preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, oldest brother, Dr Everette Smith (Alice) of N.C., her oldest grandson Tim Tryon.
She is survived by her four children;
Cynthia Leech (Larry), Mike Rogers (Darlene), Tom Rogers (Rebecca), Julie Ridenour. She is survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and her brother Dr Eldene Smith (Pam) of Palm Springs, California, and many nieces and nephews.
