

Marian was born in Monroeton, North Carolina on September 15, 1928 to the late Shirley and Minnie Huffines. Her father called her 'Rabbit' because of her boundless energy. Many of her friends and family in North Carolina still refer to her by that nickname.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Honeycutt, her sister Shirley Linville and her grandson Eric Conner.
Survivors include her son, Howard W. Honeycutt Jr. of Chattanooga, daughter Sandy (Gary) Conner of Ooltewah, granddaughter Dana Owen of Chattanooga, great-grandchildren: Abbey Conner, Kaylen Owen, Jonas Conner and Kinsley Owen as well as a niece and three nephews.
Marian attended Monticello School for all 12 years, was on the basketball team & graduated in 1946. She then attended Appalachian State Teachers College.
At Appy State, she met the love of her life, Howard Honeycutt. They were married from 1947 until his death in 2010. She had been a resident of Hamilton County since 1966 where she was loved by many and often referred to as 'Mrs. Honey'. She held a handful of secretarial jobs including a bookkeeping role at Millard Investment Securities.
She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Chattanooga for 59 years. Marian faithfully served her church and Lord by teaching Sunday School classes for many decades and co-heading the Welcome Committee with her husband. Throughout her life, she enthusiastically shared the love and joy of Jesus with virtually everyone she encountered. She left a lasting impression on all those she met with her unique & gracious personality making sure they knew her joy came from knowing Jesus!
Marian spent much of her last decade in Greenbriar Cove of Ooltewah at Garden Plaza and Morning Pointe.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at both facilities as well as the team at Hearth Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care provided during Marian's last years and days.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Oakwood Baptist or Hearth Hospice.
Visitation will be from 2-4 pm and 5-7 pm on Monday, June 8th at Chattanooga Funeral Home/Valley View Chapel, 7414 Old Lee Hwy. There will be a celebration of life service at Oakwood Baptist Church, 4501 Bonny Oaks Drive, on Tuesday June 9th at 12:30 pm with Reverend Ken Clark officiating, followed by a graveside ceremony at 2:00 pm at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
