Millard Henry Brown Jr.

Millard was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Millard Henry Brown, Sr. and Margaret Rena Lawson Brown. He was preceded in death by his four sisters, Sue, Elaine, Johnnie Ruth, and Aileen.

Millard was a man of many talents and a person who could seemingly build, repair, or create just about anything. He retired from Combustion Engineering after 30 years of dedicated service. Throughout his life, he also worked in insurance and mutual funds and later at Miller Industries. He was a gifted welder, woodworker, blacksmith, bladesmith and was a member of Choo Choo Forge. His hands were skilled, his mind was creative, and he took great pride in the things he made.

More than anything, Millard was a man of deep and abiding faith. He loved the Lord and was a devoted Christian whose strong faith guided the way he lived his life. He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Ooltewah and cherished the fellowship and relationships he found there.

Millard also knew how to enjoy life. He loved fishing, spending time at the beach, and taking vacations with his family. Yet his greatest joy was found in the people he loved. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He was deeply invested in the lives of others, and when someone new became part of his family’s circle, Millard welcomed them with open arms. He had a special gift for embracing people, building meaningful relationships, and making them feel like they had always belonged. The relationships he formed were genuine, strong, and enduring.

Above all, Millard was a devoted family man. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be treasured by those who knew and loved him. His kindness, faith, wisdom, humor, talents, and love for his family will continue to live on through the generations he leaves behind.

Millard is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara “Susie” Brown, of McDonald, TN; his two children, Dana Brown Dempsey, of Cleveland, TN, and Millard H. (Sidney) Brown, III, of Ooltewah, TN; five grandchildren, Elliot (Lora) Snyder, Haley (Michael) Wysong, Blake Snyder, Julia Brown, and Caleb Brown; eight great-grandchildren, Easton, Colton, Peyton, Britton, Micah, Wyatt, Livvy, and Sawyer; his brother, Tim (Autumn) Brown, of Ooltewah, TN; step-brother, Gary Willbanks, of Tiftonia, TN; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life service will follow at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, Valley View Chapel, with Rev. Travis Rodgers officiating.

A graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Forest Hills Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
