Opal Yvonne Boyd

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we honor the life of our beloved Opal Boyd, who peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

Opal was born in October 1940 to Burly Mildred Cross Moon and Louis David Moon. She was blessed with the love and companionship of her sisters, Shirley I. Moon Wilson and Charlotte Louise Moon Shahan, with whom she shared a lifetime of family bonds, laughter, and treasured memories.

Her greatest pride and deepest joy was her only son, Sam Boyd. He was the light of her life, her brightest star, and the treasure she cherished above all else. The love between mother and son was evident to all who knew them.

Opal truly embodied the qualities of the precious gemstone for which she was named. Like an opal, she reflected beauty, warmth, compassion, and grace. She possessed a gentle spirit that quietly touched the lives of everyone she met. Her kindness was never loud, yet its impact was profound.

Those fortunate enough to know Opal will forever remember her striking blue eyes that seemed to welcome everyone with kindness and compassion. Her beauty was undeniable, but it was her loving heart that made her truly unforgettable.

She had a special place in her heart for animals, never turning away a hungry stray that crossed her path. Whether offering food, shelter, or simple kindness, she saw value in every living creature and extended compassion freely and without hesitation.

Opal lived a life marked by grace, humility, and love. She found beauty in simple things, offered comfort without expectation, and left behind a legacy of gentleness that will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we take comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely remains with us still. Her memory will live on in every act of kindness, every rescued animal, every shared family story, and every life she touched.

We celebrate her life, honor her legacy, and give thanks for the blessing of having known and loved her.
