Dear Mary, Susan and Pat,

I just happened upon Pete's obituary yesterday, and it made me so sad that he is gone.  He was one of our favorite people at church and would always take the time to talk to us.  

Both my parents are in a nursing home now.  They broke their hips within six weeks of each other last fall.  Daddy has Alzheimer's, and Mama has had several strokes, so it had been a struggle to keep them in their home.  

You are all in our prayers.

Pete was a wonderful man with a wonderful heart.  All of us should be so fortunate to have a friend like Pete as a part of our lives.  We consider it an honor to have called him our friend.  We love you dearly and will be praying for you, Susan and Parker.

Dear Mary, Susan, and Pat,
I was so sorry to read Pete's obituary in the paper earlier this week. He was a fine Christian man. He loved his family more than anything else. He was a fantastic father and husband, a friend anyone could count on for anything they needed. I admired and respected Pete very much, and I can never remember a time when he made me feel uncomfortable, even when he practiced his dry wit at my expense. He was funny!
You know, I've just lost my Dad at 86. The situations were probably similar. Over the last few years, he didn't quite fill the place in our family that he had always filled. He became somehow forgetful. He couldn't do as much. He lost interest in fishing and gardening. Then he got really sick and he was suffering and we all knew it would be better for God to heal him in heaven. But knowing all of that, I would have never imagined the hole that remains where my father once stood! I still want to call him to talk about baseball or to get his take on a news story. I miss his prayers at Sunday lunch and the way he was transformed into a new creature when a young child was around. Like me, you know God worked it all for the best in the death of your father, but that doesn't mean you won't miss him. 
I'm sorry I couldn't come and be with you and your family during your time of suffering. As you know, I no longer drive, so getting places is difficult or impossible. But please know that I would have come if I possibly could, that I will remember each of you in prayer in the coming months, and that even though it has been years since I've seen him, I'll miss the Pete Neymon I remember, too.
My mother sends her condolences and she told me you would be in her prayers, too. At 87, she's stubbornly living alone, and even though we worry, I must admit she is doing it quite well.
I'm not going to say all the â€œhe's better off,â€ â€œnow he's at peace,â€ and â€œaren't you glad he lived so longâ€ (my personal favorite from our time in the funeral home). I'm going to thank God for letting me get to know Pete and his lovely family. I'm going to praise Him for the Christian example to the world that Pete led your family to become. I'm going to thank Him for the great blessing this family has been to me. I'll remember Pete who had the courage to let God live through him in his time here on earth. 
And I will pray that God blesses and heals each of you in the coming months.

Parker & Debby, You are in my thoughts & prayers.

To the Neyman family: I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Pete.  Based upon my knowledge of your family, not to mention the photo gallery, he certainly seemed to live life to the fullest.  Mary and our family send our condolences and will be thinking of you in the days ahead.

Although I haven't seen Pete in many years, I'll always remember his sunny disposition and great smile.  He was always such a hard-working individual, and it was evident that he loved his family so much. Wish I could be there to give each of you a big hug. I am going to miss this sweet sweet man.  His contagious smile that brightened up the room.  His laughter, oh how I am going to miss that.  When they made this sweet soul, God broke the mold. I know he is in heaven with my dad.  Makes me want to go even more.  Ms Mary,Susan and Parker my heart aches for you.  He will truly be missed.  Love you all.

Was so shocked and saddened to see Petes name listed in the paper . I just sat and stared at the screen in disbelief . 
I know I only saw him once a year or so but he was much more than a customer to me . I knew when whatever job I had been called in for was completed there was going to be a cup of coffee , a fresh pastry and warm conversation to follow . 

From the first time I met Pete it was evident that he knew no strangers . I felt like I had known him for years after the first visit . 

Losing a parent is not easy and a spouse probably even harder . I will be thinking of you all even though I can't be there and you will all be in my prayers .
