

She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Leota “Sally” Behler and was preceded in death by two children, Sally Ness Potter and Brett “Mike” Lawrence.
When Phyllis first met her husband she was working as an artist for a printing company. She later received training as a medical assistant and worked in health care. Her greatest joy came from her many years of service as a missionary. She and her husband Beryl served as missionaries, for over 30 years, providing care to Indian children and assistance to the blind.
Phyllis was the past president of the Chattanooga Association for the Blind.
She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and was recently attending Heritage Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Beryl Myles Lawrence, Sr., of Chattanooga, TN, eight children, Diane (Paul) Peddle, of Ooltewah, TN, Pamela (Martin) Pentland, of Woodland Hills, CA, Victoria Longtin, of Bradley, IL, Sigurd “Butch” (Rhonda) Ness, of Magnolia, TX, Beryl Lawrence, II, of Smithfield, VA, Bradley (Wendy) Lawrence, of Pearl City, IL, Paul (Sandra) Lawrence, of Ringgold, GA, Rachel Lawrence, of Elizabethtown, KY, 31 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm., Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Heritage Baptist Church, 2934 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421, with Pastor Chris Creswell officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date in Lakewood Memory Gardens – East.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2022, at the church.
