Pete spent his life doing what enjoyed most- flying. He flew in the US Air Force, then flew for Interstate Life in Chattanooga as a corporate pilot, before moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1980 and later serving as chief pilot for Ring Power Corporation from where he retired in 1996.
Pete married Mildred Anderson in December of 1958. Mildred’s daughter, Lanna, was nine at the time. Lisa was born in 1962, and Scott came along in 1963.
Scott died in 1976 at the age of thirteen of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
Pete was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Michelle Raye McEwen, Scott, and his wife of 44 years, Mildred.
Survivors include daughters, Lanna and Lisa, grandchildren, Jeff McEwen and Kristi Zampella, great grandchildren, Connor Chittam, Riley McEwen, Natalie Chittam, and Kaley McEwen.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 Thursday, March 13, followed by funeral services at 3 at Holy Cross Episcopal Church 7514 Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tennessee. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
