

Mr. Delaney was born and raised in Cleveland, TN. He was a WWII US Army veteran of the European Theatre, where he was awarded the Bronze Star medal and the Purple Heart for actions and wounds sustained during the Battle of the Hürtgen Forest. He retired after a long career as a Letter Carrier from the US Postal Service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, music, collecting model cars, and traveling. Known for his sense of humor and a mischievous glint in his eye, Ralph Delaney will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bessie Delaney, and his brother, JB Delaney. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gisela Delaney. He also leaves behind: daughters Linda Maldonado of Miami, FL, Elaine Bowen of Rochester, MN, and Stephanie Delaney, of Birmingham, AL; his son, Mario Aguirre, and wife Damaris, of Birmingham, AL; his sister, Delphia Branton of Cleveland; a nephew, Jim Delaney, of Ooltewah; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, Valley View Chapel, following the visitation.
Graveside Services will be at Woodlawn Park North Cemetery in Miami, Florida.
Memorial donations (in lieu of flowers) may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
