Ruth Glasgow Gregory of McDonald Tennessee died peacefully on Sunday morning November 28, 2021 at the age of 105.
She was the wife of the late Ben F. Gregory and the last surviving of seven children of Rose Morton and James Willis Glasgow. Born in Florida, she grew up in Choctaw County Alabama in a little sawmill town called Service on the banks of the Tombigbee River. After the depression closed the mill, the family moved to Tennessee. She lived in many different places before coming to Bradley County in 1974. She was a member of McDonald Methodist Church, where she served at times as pianist or teacher. She was a charter member of the McDonald Senior Citizens group. She had five children, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters: Gale Gregory Link of Nashville and Kay Gregory Ballew of McDonald. Surviving sons are Frank W. Gregory and Jeff W. Gregory of McDonald and David R. Gregory of Modena New York.
Burial will be in the family plot in Greenwood Cemetery on the eastern slope of Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga. Memorial service will be held at a later date. In place of flowers, a gift may be made to the McDonald United Methodist Church.
