Sally was born in Spokane, Washington, to the late Paul and Evelyn Ruder. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Taylor, and her brother, Steve Ruder.
Sally was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and served as a leading soprano in several choirs, including the renowned Crystal Cathedral Choir in California (now known as Christ Cathedral). She began her career teaching home economics at Shenandoah Valley Academy in New Market, Virginia, and later served as a college registrar and administrator at several institutions, including Kettering College of Medical Arts in Dayton, Ohio, Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles, California, and Ocean County College in Toms River, New Jersey.
The ocean was Sally’s happy place. She loved hiking, bowling, quilting and caring for her beloved pets—cats, dogs, and a rabbit named Skip which was treated as if he were a cat. She had a deep passion for quilting and generously volunteered her skills with Quilts for Kids, creating handmade quilts to comfort children in need. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for those around her. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Crawford; her sons, Todd Taylor and Greg (Kim) Taylor; grandsons, Matthew and Joshua Taylor; brother, Dick (Sharon) Ruder; and several nieces and nephews.
