Thelma Hanes Wright

Thelma I. Hanes Wright, 95, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013. She was a member of the East Chattanooga Church of God for over 50 years where she taught Sunday school for over 35 years. As a homemaker she loved to cook and sew for her family. She was the daughter of the late Gus and Laura Hanes and was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Paul C. Wright, Sr., two brothers Paul and Joe Hanes, two sisters Gertrude Wright and Mildred Dean. She is survived by son Paul C. (Brenda) Wright, Jr., Steve M. (Carla) Wright, four grandchildren Kim Baker, Leigh Ann (Virgil) Kimbrough, Melissa (Ronny) Barrows and Michael (Katie) Wright, ten great grandchildren, Zachary Peters, Zane Peters, Ramsey and Hannah Kimbrough, Taylor Lamunyon, Joshua Barrows, Jax, Annalesse, Ethan and Brett Wright, several step grandchildren, brother Tommy Hanes, Sr. and sister Betty (Glen) Spurlin and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions may be made to the East Chattanooga Church of God, 4872 Jersey Pike, Chattanooga, TN 37416. The family wants to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for all the love and care they showed her. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. Don Glenn and Rev. Fred Smith officiating. Interment will be in Tyner Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 -4 and 6-8 on Sunday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
