He was retired from BASF Corporation and was of the Baptist faith and loved fishing, woodworking and sports in general especially the Tennessee Vols.
Survivors include his wife, Carole Hughes; three daughters, Annette Henshall (Joe), Shelley Hughes (Heidi Brackett) and Spring Hughes (Jason Lee); seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pat Hughes (Charles Roach), Linda Washburn (McCoy) and Jan Cooper (Grady); several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. Grady Cooper officiating. There will be a private interment in New McDonald Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Monday before the service at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
