Vernon W. Samuelson, 90, of Ooltewah, TN, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011. A native of Hampshire, IL, he has been a resident of the Chattanooga area most of his life and was a member of the West Cleveland Baptist Church. He was a veteran of W.W. II, serving in the U.S. Army and was retired from Southern Railway. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Samuelson. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Samuelson; daughter, Joyce Ann (Louis) Wilson, Cleveland, TN; son, Robert F. (Nickie) Samuelson, Cleveland, TN; three step-sons, Robert (Lisa) Wilson, Atlanta, GA, Louis Wilson, Cleveland, TN and Melvin Wilson; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Arris Cavender officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
