W.C. “Will” Childress Jr., 65, of Ooltewah, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 31, 2016, after fighting a long battle with lung cancer. He was born August 31, 1950 to the late Willard C. and Lucille Childress. He was also preceded by a sister Brenda Short.
Will was a 1968 graduate of Tyner High School and was a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1969-1973. He was retired from Skyridge Medical Center as a Nuclear Medicine Tech. He loved the Tennessee Volunteers Football, Tellico Camping with our crew of: Phyllis Mann, Teresa Brannon, Amie and Darrell Jenkins, and coaching girls fast pitch softball.
Survivors include his wife of almost 47 years, Beth Oster Childress; daughters, Wendy Ross, Shelby Wachtveitl and Kacey Ibrahim; grandchildren, Isaac and Ben Ross, Gavin Wachtveitl, Eli and Sophie Ibrahim; sister Judy (Glen) Vines; father-in-law Warren Oster; brothers and sisters-in-law Steve and Judy Oster, Tim and Kelly Oster, David and Cassi Oster.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Hospice of Chattanooga for their help in caring for Will, especially Cindy and Amanda.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Valley View Chapel with Tim Oster officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be, Steve Oster, Tim Oster, David Oster, Chuck Short, Darrell Jenkins and Kinney Short. Honorary Pallbearers will be the grandchildren, Isaac, Eli, Ben, Gavin and Sophie.
