

William Hanna Farah, 84, of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 26, 2016. William was born in Bethlehem, Palestine, spent his boyhood days in Nazareth and attended high school in Gaza. He was employed by the United Nations (UNRWA). He immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized citizen. He graduated from Carson-Newman College and received his Master of Business Administration from East Tennessee State University. He was employed by American St. Gobain in Kingsport. He later took a job as an accountant with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee where he retired after 24 years of service. He was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church where he was a deacon, teacher, and served 37 years as church treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Hanna and Rafiha, and by two brothers Alfred and Wileed all of Gaza.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Carolyn; daughter, Linda (Michael) Snell and his son John (Karissa) Farah; five grandchildren, David and Andrew Snell; James, Karlee, and Lindsey Farah all of Chattanooga; brother Bahir in Australia; sisters, Aya of Baltimore, Soura and Ilham of Gaza and several nieces and nephews.
The family request memorial contributions be made to Silverdale Baptist Church Building Fund, 7236 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 at Silverdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Walliser and the Rev. Eddie Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
