William J. “Bill” Padgett, 76, of Ooltewah, TN, passed away Tuesday evening, January 29, 2013 from Multiple Myeloma. A lifelong resident of the Ooltewah area, he was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Shell Oil Company and was the son of the late Ralph and Pauline Turner Padgett. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Cagle Padgett; two daughters, Karla Forrester, Ooltewah and Kimberly (Carlos) Martinez; son, Sam (Peggy) Huff, Chattanooga; seven grandchildren, Shauna, Jarod, Noah, Marissa, J.J., Tiffany and Nicole; sister, Betty (Wayne) Winkler, Ooltewah and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. Dale Lovelady officiating. Inurnment will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at themmf.org or to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society at lls.org. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
