Carlos was always a gentleman and an eternal optimist. He was a boy from Texas with the odds stacked against him, and he won. He was a dreamer, a man with a vision set out to do good.

He was a Golden Glove Boxer, USAF Vietnam War Veteran, Iron Worker, Chicago Police Officer, Chicago Fire Battalion Chief, and a loving husband. But to me, he will simply be remembered as my friend who made me smile.

Carlos, rest in peace. You selflessly served humanity. St Peters will say, "A job well done!"

Dear Dad,
Rest in peace in a place of warmth and comfort. No matter where I am, I know your spirit will be beside me. Your guiding hand is on my shoulder and will be with me forever. Nothing loved is ever lost, you will live in my heart forever. I know we have an angel watching over us and it’s you my dear Dad. I'll miss so much about you, but most of all I'll miss how much you made me laugh.
With Much Love,
Tawana Spence and Family

Your continuous smile. Will never be forgotten. Blood didn’t make us family, knowing you my entire life did. Your death saddened our family. And we share in your families grief. Love from the Cuellar Familia

Carlos was a good man with a good heart. A gentle man with a kind demeanor. He was a boxer. He served in Viet Nam during the Tet Offensive. I was very proud to have called him my friend. Until we meet again.
