Chester M. Mateja

Mateja, Chester passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023 at the age 99. Beloved husband of the late Angeline. Loving father of the late Stanley (Debra) and Sally (Steven Ret. CFD) Ives. Loving grandpa of Dan (Melonie), Heather (the late Steve) Jerome, Matt Ives and Alex Ives. Loving great-grandpa of Dylan and Meredith Mateja. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Chester enjoyed singing, traveling, playing cards especially bridge, playing the harmonica, meeting new people and making new friends. He flourished joyfully the last 6 years at Franciscan Village in Lemont, IL. No one was a stranger to Chester and he greeted everyone with a firm handshake and a smile.

Special thanks to his loving caregivers from Friends over Fifty Senior Care and to the entire staff at Mother Theresa Home in Lemont for their compassionate care.

Visitation for Chester will be on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 10:30 AM until time of Mass at 11:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Chapel, 1270 Village Dr, Lemont, IL 60439.
