Corinne Francis Filips

Corinne “Mimi” Filips (Markowski), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

Corinne was the devoted wife of her late husband (Leonard) and a loving mother to Allison Vlasic (Ronald). She was the proud and cherished grandmother of Nicole (Tim) and Steven, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. She was a loving sister and sister-in-law to the late Gloria Palmeri (Frank), and a treasured aunt and great-aunt to her dear nieces and nephews. She was also a cherished cousin to Donna Mae and a loyal and treasured friend to so many.

Corinne lived a humble, hardworking, and deeply caring life. After losing her husband and becoming a widow at just 42 years old, she faced the challenge of raising her family as a single mother.

With strength and determination, she went back to school and earned her associate degree in accounting. She then began a long and successful career at Certified Grocers, where she became an integral part of the billing department and worked for more than 20 years before retiring.

During her time there, she became affectionately known as the “honey sweetie lady”—a nickname that captured her warm, welcoming nature and the kindness she showed to everyone around her.

Retirement did not slow Corinne down. She continued to spend her time helping others and giving back to her community. She volunteered at Rosary Hill and the church rectory, helped feed those who were less fortunate, and enjoyed being part of her senior groups. She found joy in the simple things, too. She learned to knit, loved playing Bunco, and always found ways to keep herself busy and connected to others.

But more than anything, Mimi loved her family. Her greatest happiness came from being together—taking trips, spending time with her grandchildren, sharing meals, laughing, and simply making memories. She treasured every moment with them, and her family knew just how deeply they were loved. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, and the memories they made together will be treasured forever.

Corinne had a beautiful way of making people feel cared for. She gave generously, loved deeply, and never needed much for herself. Her life was a testament to strength, kindness, faith, and the importance of family. She faced life’s hardships with quiet courage and continued to give love to others no matter what challenges came her way.

She will be profoundly missed by all who were blessed to know her. While her family and friends will feel the emptiness of her absence, they will also carry the greatest gift she could leave them: a lifetime of love, countless stories, and beautiful memories.

Her legacy will live on in every story told, every memory shared, and in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of calling her Mom, Mimi, family, or friend. She will be loved and missed forever.
