Wayne Bunch (Ret. CPD) was born on July 17, 1943, and passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, at the age of 83. He was the only child of the late Paul and the late Gladys Bunch.
Wayne was a lifelong resident of Chicago, Illinois. Before retiring, he worked as a proud member of the Chicago Police Department and was dedicated to serving and protecting the residents of the city.
Wayne was the loving husband of Janet (née Taglisferi) Bunch, with whom he shared more than 62 years of marriage.
Dearest dad and forever hero of Laura (Tim) Houlihan, Lisa (Bobby) Esposito, Lynn (the late Shawn) Matkovich, and Joseph (Carri) Bunch. Proud papa of Joey (Kayla) Sutkowski, Anthony Esposito, Alyssa Esposito, Timmy (Kara) Houlihan, Christina Esposito, Michael Bunch, Lea Bunch, Sammi Bunch, Vinnie Matkovich, and Makayla Bunch; and his great-granddaughter, Emersyn Sutkowski.
Wayne was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished the time spent with his family. He was a fond brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched throughout his years. His dedication to his family, his service to the city of Chicago, and the memories he created with those he loved will remain with them always.
Visitation will be held at Ridge Funeral Home, 6620 West Archer Ave, Chicago, IL 60638, on September 15, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on September 16, 2026, from 8:30 am to 9:30 am.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am at St Daniel the Prophet Church, 6612 W 54th St, Chicago, IL 60638, on September 16, 2026.
A Committal Service will follow at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, 1400 S Wolf Rd, Hillside, IL 60162, on September 16, 2026.
