Gertrude T. Krol

Gertrude Teresa Krol (nee Gertrude Maciaszek-Pawela) age 98 of McDonough, GA passed away peacefully at her daughter’s residence on June 17, 2013. She was born in Chicago, IL on January 17, 1915 to the late Lawrence and Maryanna Maciaszek. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John S. Krol, Sr. in 1995 and by her brother and sister in law, Ted and Stella Maciaszek. She loved the Lord and was a parishioner of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough, GA. Survivors include her children, John (Jackie) Krol of Cary, IL, Timothy Krol of Palos Heights, IL and Maryann (Lou) Carter of McDonough, GA; grandchildren, John (Jennifer) Krol, Juliann Franklin, Amanda Carter and Haley Carter; great grandchildren, Jacob Franklin, Jenna Franklin, John Vernon Krol and Charlie Krol. The family would like to express their appreciation to her caregivers, Claudia Lagasse, June Pitney and especially Nancy Suttles and Frances Breedlove. Also would like to thank the people of St. James, who picked her up for church and came to give her communion when she was unable to attend church anymore and to Sacred Journey Hospice for making her last few days comfortable. A Funeral Mass will be conducted Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the St. James the Apostle Catholic Church with Monsignor Terry Young as Celebrant. Friends may visit the family Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of Ridge Funeral Home, 6620 W. Archer, Chicago, IL 60629 where a visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to the St. James Mortgage Fund, 1000 Decatur Rd., McDonough, GA 30252 or the Sacred Journey Hospice, 138 Peach Dr., McDonough, GA 30253 in memory of Gertrude.
