My deepest sympathies to the Castro / Velasquez family. 

Our dear Helen was a rare soul - a friend whose love asked for nothing in return, yet she gave everything.

Though the pain of missing Helen is real, the gratitude I feel for having known her  is far greater. Helen's light hasn't gone out; it lives on in every memory of kindness she showed us and in every heart she touched.

Helen has such a special place in my heart. She was the personification of wisdom, calm and keeper of the best perspective on everything! What a gift our family had to live so close to her for so many  years. She was one of the best!  Our sympathies are with the entire Castro family.

Our family was so fortunate to have had Helen as our neighbor on Bradley Place.  As her granddaughter recently said, “It takes a village to raise a family”, and Helen was our village. Her calm, steady strength and her love helped carry us through.

I was so touched when I pulled up to my house and Gen, Jordan, and Jordan were there to tell us that Helen had passed. We gathered in Helen’s apartment and shared our memories of her.

Mother's Day 2024 ❤️❤️

Here's to Helen a beautiful lady inside and out.  It was a blessing to have been reunited with the Castro Family!  I so enjoyed talking and laughing with this lovely lady with all her wisdom and Love.   Rest in Peace Helen ❤️

Once she passed I had a vision I wanted to do. I wanted to go to her old place where I had some of the best memories with her. She lived upstairs and this family that was cool lived downstairs. I just wanted to go see the house, walk the block and maybe get a picture on the front stairs. Well the lady that lived there all those years ago still lives there and she pulls up as I’m standing there! She was so happy to see me and my sister, she invited us in, gave us a beer and showed us the house! It brought back great times and felt so nostalgic. We went up to my grandmas old place and it was really nice being there again. She was very nice to us and she felt for us losing our grandma Helen. So thank you very much Julie for being so kind to us and letting us come and reminisce. That meant the world to me and I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time. I think our new angel Grandma Helen had something to do with that.😇🥰🥹

I remember me and my wife went to Chicago Bulls and Celtics game. From the moment we got to Chicago I couldn’t help  being excited for the game but even more excited to see my Grandma. Chicago has always been associated with my grandma. I loved staying with her even after my parents left. I stayed with her by myself and was getting so spoiled and I just loved every minute of it.☺️🥰 I love and miss you grandma.

Grandma was so sweet and such a blessing to us all. She was kind and loved everyone so much. I will forever love her for that and I will keep her in my heart but trying to be as nice and kind as she was.❤️

Big Gramma Helen -instead of calling her Great Grandma, my kids said Big Gramma :)- was such a wonderful lady, so full of light & Jesus. She was giving, kind, & loving... every time I look at the moon, I will think of Helen <3 Rest in peace, and we will see you again someday.
