

Humberto Jimenez, born August 5, 1942, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, faith, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
He was the beloved son of Hilario and Tomasa Jimenez and dedicated many years of his life working for the Rock Island County Forest Preserve, retiring from Niabi Zoo. Through his work and his daily life, Humberto showed by example what it meant to be dependable, humble, and proud of an honest day’s work. His family carries their strong work ethic because of him.
Humberto was a faithful member of St. Joseph Blessed Martyrs of Chimbote Church, where his faith guided how he treated others. To know him was truly to love him. He never met a stranger and treated everyone like a friend and was generous with everyone. His family often said that if he ever won the lottery, he would give it away without hesitation.
He was an incredible storyteller and the funniest jokester, always able to bring laughter into any room. He was the life of every party, and no gathering ever felt complete without him. He was rarely without his guitar, as music was his love language. Humberto wrote countless songs and could always be found singing at parties and family gatherings, filling the room with joy and warmth. His love for music inspired many of his children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews to pursue music themselves, carrying on the joy he so freely shared. He was also known for his ceviche, his love of fishing, and his ability to fix anything whether it was a broken toy, a household problem, or even someone’s worries. To his family, he was the man who could fix everything, both physically and mentally.
As a father and grandfather, Humberto was unmatched. Grandpa time meant hearing so many stories and learning so much about his life and the life of our family members, moments filled with laughter, wisdom, and love that will be cherished forever. He was a loving husband, an amazing father, and the kind of grandpa every child dreams of having.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilario and Tomasa Jimenez; his sisters, Felipa Manuela and Juanita; his brothers, Reyes and Esteban; and his beloved grandson, Alex Humberto.
He is survived by his loving wife, Angelica; his children, Humberto Jr., Juan Alvaro, Victor Hugo, Angelica, Leticia, Gustavo, and Margarita; his siblings, Jose Luis of East Moline, Juan of Silvis, Illinois, Maria of Rock Island, Illinois, and Martha of Kyle, Texas; his grandchildren, Andrea, Amanda, Emily, Daniela, Diego, Andrés, Ariana, Mateo, Sofía, Alex, Alvaro, and Addison; and his great-grandchildren, Isaac, Aralí, and Ezequiel.
Humberto Jimenez will be remembered as a man whose love, music, laughter, and generosity touched everyone he met. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished so deeply. Though his guitar may now be silent, his music will forever echo through the laughter, love, and traditions of our family. As his earthly song comes to an end, we trust he now sings in perfect harmony with the Lord.
He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Justice, Illinois. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A visitation will be held at Ridge Funeral Home, located at 6620 West Archer Ave, Chicago, IL 60638, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Humberto Jimenez, nacido el 5 de agosto de 1942 en Piedras Negras, Coahuila, falleció rodeado del amor de su familia. Vivió una vida definida por el trabajo duro, la bondad, la fe y una devoción inquebrantable hacia su familia.
Fue el amado hijo de Hilario y Tomasa Jimenez y dedicó muchos años de su vida a trabajar para el Rock Island County Forest Preserve, de donde se jubiló en el Zoológico Niabi. A través de su trabajo y de su vida diaria, Humberto enseñó con el ejemplo lo que significaba ser responsable, humilde y orgulloso de un trabajo honesto. Su familia heredó de él su fuerte ética de trabajo.
Humberto fue un fiel miembro de la Iglesia St. Joseph Blessed Martyrs of Chimbote, donde su fe guiaba la manera en que trataba a los demás. Conocerlo era quererlo. Como padre y abuelo, Humberto fue incomparable. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Hilario y Tomasa Jimenez; sus hermanas, Felipa Manuela y Juanita; sus hermanos, Reyes y Esteban; y su querido nieto, Alex Humberto.
Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Angelica; sus hijos, Humberto Jr., Juan Alvaro, Victor Hugo, Angelica, Leticia, Gustavo y Margarita; sus hermanos, Jose Luis de East Moline, Juan de Silvis, Illinois, Maria de Rock Island, Illinois, y Martha de Kyle, Texas; sus nietos, Andrea, Amanda, Emily, Daniela, Diego, Andrés, Ariana, Mateo, Sofía, Alex, Alvaro y Addison; y sus bisnietos, Isaac, Aralí y Ezequiel.
Humberto Jimenez será recordado como un hombre cuyo amor, música, alegría y generosidad tocaron la vida de todos los que lo conocieron. Su legado vive a través de la familia que tanto amó. Aunque su guitarra hoy guarda silencio, su música resonará para siempre en las risas, el amor y las tradiciones de nuestra familia. Al llegar a su fin su canto en esta vida, confiamos en que ahora canta en perfecta armonía con el Señor.
Será sepultado en el Cementerio Católico Resurrection en Justice, Illinois. Será profundamente extrañado y eternamente amado.
