Again for taking such good care of john while he struggled.   They were wonderful

Losing John was not only the loss of a good neighbor it is the loss of a great friend. 
John was always there when you needed him, no matter what the problem he was always willing to help.  Whether or not I needed something repaired or replaced in the home or a ride to the emergency room, John was there.  He didn't do this just for me he did it for anyone in need.  This gentle giant will always be missed.  





Over the years I had several visits with John while visiting Chicago.  I was struck by a sense of love and inclusion, an attitude that said, "If you are my brother's friend, then you are MY friend."  Indeed, I felt as if we had been lifelong friends.  Even more impressive to me was the love and tender solicitude he lavished on his ailing sister Marianne.  John was a GOOD MAN, straight talking, hard working, no nonsense, and scrupulously honest.  He was a man who saw the world in black and white terms;  he felt that there was a right way and a wrong way to do things, and he made good and damn well sure that he did them the RIGHT way.   The world is much the poorer for his loss.

My sincere condolences to  my friend Frank Covich and the Covich family for the loss of John. May he rest in eternal peace.   

Hi John, how are you feeling?  John's response would be with my hands.  John had a uniqueness that always made us laugh.  John was a selfless man.  John would have done anything for us in our tight-knit Garfield /Clearing Community.  John helped us fix things and watch out for us and knew when any of us had a car light out.  In return, meals, and desserts were given to him and we would take him to places and when we wouldn't hear from him the phone would be ringing. We will miss sitting on the porch and talking about current events, laughing, and reminiscing.  I know John is kicking up his heels being back with dad/mom and lovely Marianne.   Our dear friend John.  We will miss you dearly.  Love all your friends and neighbors. 

John Covich my brother, spent his entire life in the southside area of Chicago by midway airport. John never married and had no children. My brother was very talented, for a few years he lived with me and worked at sun chemical in Northlake, Illinois.

He was Larger than me and stronger than me and he played softball, which he loved.

When my parents started aging, John moved back in to our family home to be there to take care of them. 

As my father got Ill, John and my sisters, all dedicated themselves to his care.   After our father passed away, my mother had a long illness, and John cut his working to part time so he could always be there close by. 

Our sister Marianne and my brother John cared for my mother for many years. When my mother passed away, our brother Johnny stayed with our sister Marianne and took care of her. As she got ill, and passed away,  he stayed in the family home. 

Everyone in our entire family will always be grateful to John and my sisters Christine, Patricia and Marianne for there dedication to our mother and father and to each other.

John was always there for anyone who needed help or care. 

Work took me away from Chicago 50 years ago.  I will always be grateful to John. 

Our parents were wonderful, and my sisters Christine and Patrica and their husbands David and Fred and families were with John as he  struggled at the end of his life. He learned again what real love is.

At the end it’s all about who you love and who loved you.  John was loved and John loved everyone in our family. 74 years as my only brother. I will miss him very much.
