Chicago, IL – Maryln Pauline Homan nee, Konva, a devout Catholic, a spirited prayer warrior, and a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 89 years young, always claiming she would live to be 100- very close!
A woman of profound faith and joyful service, Maryln lived a life dedicated to God and her community. For many years, she was a dedicated Eucharistic Minister, bringing communion and the solace of prayer to the homebound. She believed fiercely in the power of healing, anointing many with the oil of Padre Pio and witnessing miraculous recoveries, including from cancer. Her faith was active, powerful, and a source of immense comfort to all who knew her.
Yet, her devotion was always balanced by a radiant and playful spirit. Maryln was known for her silly jokes, her love of telling a good story, and a delightful touch of sass. She was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley and found joy in simple pleasures: horseback riding in her youth, knitting and crocheting, stained glass making, and all kinds of crafts. She poured this creative love into the children (and into her grandchildren) at Saint Daniel the Prophet School in Chicago, where she worked in the aftercare program for many years, while living right across the street from the community she so cherished.
She was a woman of great love and resilience. She is now reunited with the two great loves of her life: her only husband, the late Mr. Gerald R. Homan Sr. an artist whose creative spirit still endures, and after his passing her longtime companion, Mr. Stanley Kogut a long time family friend who loved to call Bingo with her.
Maryln was the heart of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her five children, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and all the lives she touched with her prayers and her presence. She was a woman who was always thinking of others, and her memory will be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation for Maryln will be on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM. to 8:00 P.M., at Ridge Funeral Home, 6620 West Archer Avenue, Chicago, IL 60638. Homan Sr. For information call 773-586-7900 or visit www.ridgefh.com.
Donations can be made directly to the Homan family.
She will be deeply missed, but her family finds comfort in knowing she is at peace in the arms of her Savior, likely sharing a laugh with Elvis and finally free from the shadow of dementia.
Rest in Heavenly Peace Dear Momma Bird.
