Michael Joseph Rysiewicz

Mike was proceeded in life by his parents, Michael Rysiewicz & Margaret nee Pilat. He will be greatly missed by his Siblings, Diana Perfect Sherman (Rick), Richard Rysiewicz (Nancy) & Jeffrey Rysiewicz (Vicki Nardi). He was a proud Uncle of Melissa Carlson (Brian), Michael Rysiewicz (Amanda), & Richie Rysiewicz (Sammie). He also was a Great Uncle to a total of 5 Great Nieces & Nephews. He’s had many old friends and that he loved dearly.

Mike was a teddy bear at heart who could be a grizzly bear at times. He loved music and was quite a record collector having 10,000 albums at one time. He mostly listened to all kinds of rock n roll but his albums expanded to other genres as well. He liked playing his music loud. He also had thousands of books. He was spiritual and enjoyed exploring Eastern Philosophies along with Christianity. He loved traveling by train and was a great tourist, exploring different things of interest in all his travels. He was sober for the last 46 plus years of his life but he did used to love talking about the old days before he was. He loved a good movie, he loved watching the Three Stooges and Andy Griffith Show almost religiously, and true crime shows and travel documentaries after he could no longer travel. He loved pizza, especially Chesdan’s and could really “put away the groceries” at a buffet or a holiday meal.

He worked most of his adult life as a medical courier for Quest Diagnostics Lab. He very rarely missed a day of work and was terrifically consistent and mistake free on the job. His coworkers remember him fondly. He practiced meditation to help move along life’s path, which gave him some relief from the many anxieties he had to battle. He was kind and charitable even though he wasn’t wealthy. He always sought peace with everyone, friends and strangers alike. His heart was gold. We loved him and hope his rest is eternally peaceful.

Visitation for Michael will be on November 23, 2025 from 4:00 PM. to 8:00 PM., at Ridge Funeral Home, 6620 West Archer Ave, Chicago, IL 60638. Visitation on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 8:30 AM. to 11:00 AM., with Funeral service starting at 11:00 AM., at Ridge Funeral Home, 6620 West Archer Ave, Chicago, IL 60638.
