Patrick D. Harmon

Patrick Daniel (Pat) Harmon, loving husband, father, son, and brother, passed away from his battle with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) on December 20, 2023, in the company of his devoted wife, Valerie.

Born on November 12, 1967, in Detroit, Michigan, and blessed with adoptive parents David Patrick Harmon and Enise (née Rapuzzi) Harmon. David and Enise possessed a desire to share their good fortune and create a family. Patrick was their first son, raised in a loving household with his younger brother Daniel Lewis, becoming part of the larger Baginski, Burress, Demko, Hackman and Himes families. Pat had the fortune of having two loving families, as he was reunited as an adult with his biological father James Culver, younger brother, Boyd Culver and extended family. Pat’s life became complete when he met and married his soulmate, Valerie, enjoying 16 years together. Pat was fortunate to have three daughters whom he loved, Noel (“Bubba”), Raelle (“Chuck”), and Kaylee (“Mrs. Potts”); and one grandson, John.

Pat graduated from Mount Carmel High School, Chicago, Illinois in 1985, where he played football and made several life-long friends. He had a successful career in avionics, aircraft maintenance and management, working his way up from a 21-year-old ramp-services employee to quality-control manager. Pat spent most of his 30-year career with American Airlines; he also enjoyed several years with Spirit Airlines. Pat was a brotherly manager, taking time to mentor younger staff, and assisting anyone in need of his vast expertise.

Pat was a true outdoorsman, always enjoying time in nature. He loved the joyful chirping of tree frogs and sonorous beauty of a flowing stream teaming with fish; the wind, rain, snow and sunshine were his elements. Pat also loved music, meeting and falling in love with his wife, Valerie, through their shared musical interests.

Patrick Daniel Harmon, you were loved by many, and will be missed by all. Pat’s family is humbled and grateful for all the love, support, and generosity given over the last three years as he bravely battled ALS. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial gifts to the Susan Mast ALS Foundation of Michigan. This organization was wonderful in helping Patrick.
