Mr.Wozniak recently came to my mind when reflecting on my elementary days at Scammon. I am just learning about the unfortunate news of his passing last year and want to pay my tribute to him. 

Mr. Wozniak was one of those teachers that change students lives. He was a passionate and dedicated teacher to his students. I was lucky to have him as my 4th grade teacher in 2011. He was incredibly smart and knew about every topic. He would tell my brother that if he had a a nickel for every time I would say “please” and “thank you” he would be a millionaire. He was also kind and funny. I am so thankful to have known him and been taught by him.

Mr Wozniak was my 4th grade teacher . He made me wanna come to class everyday . He was dedicated and the greatest teacher at Scammon hands down. Great personality great teacher he will be missed . I’m glad they named Henderson st Wozniak . 

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Wozniak. 
He was a pillar of the community - an educator and friend to all.

He introduced me to band and a love of music that I have carried with me since meeting him as my 5th grade teacher, and something I will pass down to my own son.

Mr. Wozniak was always upbeat, dedicated and truly passionate about his work.
I will never forget being on a field trip at Brookfield Zoo, and we arrived hours late back to school because his watch stopped. They had signs made and ready saying “Run Forrest Run!”

His memory and legacy will live on in all the lives he’s touched.

My deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Wozniak. 

I am so sad to hear of his passing. Mr. Wozniak was always a joy at Scammon. When I joined Scammon as a teacher, he went out of his way to welcome me. I loved running into Stan in the hallway because he always had something good  and positive  to say, sometimes he would  do this in Spanish.  ❤️

I was devastated with the loss of Mr. Wozniak. Not only was he my 4th grade teacher, he was my colleague, mentor, and friend when I came back to Scammon as an educator. 

Mr. Wozniak had a breezy, relaxed, and fun way of educating young people. He had this way of seeing each and every student and respecting who they were as individuals, and as part of the collective community. I will never forget him standing on a desk to make a point or any of his stories about his youth, his family, his neighborhood, or the history of Chicago. 

He was a true mentor and I’ve taken all of these things into my teaching. 

His way of being not only influenced my teaching, but his character has even influenced how I parent and give beyond myself to my family and neighborhood. I believe the word, dedicated, is the perfect word to capture the essence of my friend Stan. 

Mr. Wozniak, we will always remember you at Scammon and in this neighborhood. I dedicate myself to take care of your honorary street sign and make sure your legacy here is never forgotten.  I love you dude and I’ll miss you! Rest In Peace and Power! 




I was lucky to have worked with Stan for many years. He was a special human being and a gifted, dedicated teacher. I remember his joy as his family grew. He gave his all to them.  His sense of humor and practical jokes lit up many days. I will never forget him and will always be thankful that he was a part of my life. My love goes to his beautiful family . Rest In Peace, Stan.

I knew Stan for 60 plus years. We started out as playground friends and developed into  a lifetime Brotherhood that can’t  be replaced. We are both Godfathers to each other daughters. The humility Stan always had was unmatched. He always had laughsto share with his “warm” beer. Life will move on without him but it won’t be as good. Rest In God’s Love, Brother

You had an Amazing sense of humor and a down to earth personality.   There was music in your soul, that’s for sure .  I will always remember you with that genuine smile as you danced on top of our desks :)

I am honored to be his very first class at Scammon School in 1982. He was my 4th grade teacher. He was the BEST and cared so much for each student. 

A funny memory I remember was having the hiccups and him saying to me...Barnes get in the hallway now. I didn't know why, then he came out and slammed his hand next to me as I stood against the lockers and said ...are your hiccups gone? They were and we both laughed.  He had a great sense of humor and was so personable, not all teachers are gifted like this. He definitely was special.

I was sad to hear about the passing of my dear friend, Stan. We worked together for many years at Scammon Elementary School, laughing and sharing our teaching experiences. He was an awesome teacher and someone I totally enjoyed working with. We drifted apart after retirement in distance, but not in my heart. My memories of our time together will stay with me until we meet again. May God comfort you with His love and give you peace.
