Allen Lee Thompson, 84, of Borrego Springs, California, passed away on September 29, 2013. He was born in Billings Montana on October 20, 1928 and grew up in Gilman City Missouri. After graduating from high school in 1946, Allen joined the Navy where he was honorably discharged in 1948. He attended college at the University of Kansas where he graduated with a BS in Business Education and became a life-long Jawhawks fan. Allen taught high school for a short time before relocating to Southern California. He started his career at Rohr Industries in 1953 and held various management positions in Finance. He retired after 33 years in December of 1986. He is survived by wife Margaret, children Susan, Sherry and Tim, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Allen had his private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his Cessna, was an avid golfer and was rumored to have had multiple “hole in one’s”. He also enjoyed spending much of his time with friends in the Anza Borrego Desert. He was a caring friend and a kind and loving father. He will be missed.
