Carlos R. Alaniz

Carlos Rivas Alaniz, 86 years old, of Paradise Hills, passed away on May 22, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Carlos was born in Calexico, California on February 12, 1930. He married JoAnn Isabel Martinez on July 4, 1950. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage and eight children.

Carlos had a long career driving semi-trucks for V.R.. Dennis Construction Company. He was a member of Teamsters Local 36. When not working, his favorite pastime was hanging out with his family, especially the grandchildren, and later, the great-grandchildren. He also liked tooling around with collection of trucks, and watching his favorite baseball team, the San Diego Padres. He would often say his very favorite place to vacation was Hawaii. When not in the company of his grandchildren, his four-legged companion was Barney, his German Shepherd.

Carlos will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife JoAnn, his children; Connie Vasquez, (Beto), Sandra Gray, (Timothy), Carlos Alaniz, (Celia), Thomas Alaniz, (Carol), Antonio Alaniz, (Socorro), Mary Delozier, (Kenny), JoAnn Martinez, (Frank) and John Alaniz. In addition, he is survived by a legacy of 27 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren. Surviving siblings are his brother, Arnulfo Alaniz and sister, Josie Martinez.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, California 91910, on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A vigil prayer service will start promptly at 6:00 p.m. in the Serenity Chapel.
