Born into a Large family Beavers parents Trinidad and Juana Juarez had 9 Children. Robert "Cody", Gilbert, Delia, Beaver, Bea, Raymond "Yuyu", Trinidad "Vonie",David, and Eddie.
Together had a fun and Adventurous childhood growing up in his beloved neighborhood of Old Town National City (OTNC). At a young age he became an artist and loved to create, draw & color caricatures around town. He credits the “Casa Salud'' Youth center for keeping him out of trouble and for giving him opportunities as a young man. The Casa gave him an outlet to express himself in sports & art, along with his best friend Abel Portillo. Beaver lived like huckleberry Finn as a kid, playing in the marsh lands they called the “slues'' everyday was a new adventure. Beaver attended St. Anthony’s Church, Kimball Elementary school, National City Middle school and Sweetwater high school class of 1951. He was very active in clubs and sports at Suhi and even created the character mascot for the school's Red Devil. His Artwork was displayed at The NC Library and many local spots around town. After finishing high school Beaver was awarded a Art scholarship to the world renowned “Chouinard Art Institute '' in
Los Angeles, he attended in 1951.
In 1952 he married the love of his life “the girl next-door” Bertha Prado. She was one of 16 kids. Together their families grew to one Big Family The Juarez and Prado families. They had 6 Children Bobo ,Fifi,Snooky,Sandy,Jenny and Bullet.
After having his first son Bobo Beaver decided to leave his art dream in LA and become a full-time hardworking family man back in his hometown. Beaver worked and retired from C & M meats as a Butcher. He coached his kids sports at Las Palmas baseball and softball leagues. All of his children graduated from Sweetwater and played sports and cheered for Suhi. Tradition continued with 12 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren All ball players. The family has over 40 years of playing for NCGSL and Suhi Sports. Beaver & Bertha never missed a ball game at home or away, they were always in the stands rooting faithfully. They were members of the Casa Men’s Eagles Club and partied every Friday into their late 80’s with their brother Cody. He also served as a OTNC reunion committee member and also created the Logo for the shirts.
One of Beavers favorite past times included camping with his family. Many yearly trips to Rosarito, Punta Cabra (Far Away Place) , Silver Strand, Bass Lake & Yosemite. He was an avid Champion horseshoe player into his 80’s. Winning the BYHA horseshoe tournaments many times. He loved watching western movies and sports. Beaver was a diehard San Diego sports fan. His favorite teams were the Suhi Red Devils, San Diego Padres & of course his San Diego Chargers win or lose he loved watching his teams.
After retiring in 1992 he returned to his passion for art again. Beaver began taking art classes and also became a member of the Southwest Art gallery in Balboa Park. He continued his passion for art his whole life and was still drawing up until his last days of life.
Beaver Juarez is a Legend and Hero in our hearts forever. A quick witted, talented humble man who had a secret love for classical music and the simple things in life. He had a great memory and told the best stories. He will be remembered for his loving heart, his humility, his character, his comedy,his art, his storytelling and love for his family. Thank you for the many memories and laughs. We are blessed to have had such a beautiful soul in our lives. His Legacy will live forever through all of his Kids, Grandkids, Family and Friends.
