Charlotte Betty Barry

She was born February 5, 1929 in Gloucester, MA to Charles and Rose Shermard. She joined her sisters, Anne, Julia, Ellen, and later Virginia.

She married John Robert Barry on January 29, 1956, who she met through a blind date. They lived in Michigan. When John’s work closed down, they moved to Hawthorne, CA. She stayed at home but spent hours volunteering in many community and church activities. She played bunco with her neighborhood friends.

She loved to write, make lists, read, movies, concerts, art museums, cooking, helping others, gardening, garage sale shopping, walking, and always trying to improve her life.

As empty nesters, she traveled the world with John. They also bought an unfinished cabin up in the San Bernardino Mts and spend many weekends working on and many years enjoying their vacation home.

Charlotte leaves behind her children Kathleen and husband Emy, Ken and wife Patti, James and wife Raquel. Her grandchildren Loren, Stephanie and husband Herb, Michael, Eva, and Devin. Her great grandchildren Herbie and Cameron.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to: Children’s Hospital or Alzheimer's Association.
