

Dorothy Berry Joy, 92 years old, of La Mesa, California, passed away on May 29, 2017. She was born in Alameda, California on February 11, 1925. Dorothy graduated from Livermore High School and the University of California Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.
On March 10, 1946 she married the love of her life, Ned Vernon Joy. They were blessed with a long marriage and two children; Thomas Patrick and Kathryn Ann. Dorothy dedicated herself to raising her family and truly enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. She kept busy with gardening and grew most of the families fruits and vegetables. In addition, she became quite the seamstress and sewed much of the families
clothing. Caring for her family was truly her number one priority.
Dorothy believed in being involved with her community as well. She became a member of The League of Women Voters and the Sierra Club.
Her caring nature led her to become involved in the care and protection of animals, education of national and world events and to care for all people whose lives she touched.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Ned. She is survived by her son, Thomas Patrick Joy and daughter Kathryn Ann Joy. In addition, her legacy includes grandchildren; Erik Lee Joy, Bree April Scanlon and Patrick Nunez Salvatierra-Joy and great grandchildren; Sam Joy, Simon Joy, Elizabeth Scanlon and Viola Scanlon.
Dorothy was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
