Floro "Frank" Anastasi, age 99, of Chula Vista, California passed away on Thursday July 12, 2018. Frank was born August 14, 1918 in Jersey City, New Jersey, the fourth child of Joseph and Lucia Anastasi.
Frank was 12 years old when the family moved to Waverly, New York where he graduated from Waverly High School and worked in the family restaurant before joining the Army. Returning to Waverly after being honorably discharged he worked as a freight conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 30 years before his retirement.
In 1968 Frank moved to Chula Vista, California permanently. He was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and of numerous other civic organizations.
Frank is survived by two daughters; Dianne Martin of Taft, California and Mary Jo Carney of Toms River, New Jersey. His legacy includes five grandchildren; Edward Martin, Debra Popejoy, and Eric Martin of Taft, California and Dan Carney and Ben Carney of Toms River, New Jersey. Also surviving him are seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He will be best remembered for his loyalty and generosity to all, particularly his family.
A visitation for Frank will be held Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 3:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel Chula Vista, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, California, 91910. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 9:15 a.m. at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 293 H Street, Chula Vista, California, 91910. At the conclusion of mass, a funeral procession will take Frank to his eternal resting place; Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 4470 Hilltop Drive, San Diego, California 92102. He will receive military honors by the U.S Army for his service to his country.
