Graciela, (Grace, Chela) Romero
January 10, 1919- November 16, 2012
Our Grace was born in Santa Rosalia, Mexico, on January 10, 1919. In 1965, she became an American citizen. Grace was a single woman, living and assisting her mother, her whole life. She is survived by her sisters Delia Santana, Bea Rocha and Irene Suess and her many loving nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. She worked in an imported goods shop in Tijuana Mexico, selling perfume, later to work at Davis-Lassoff Fashion Jewelry and accessories in Los Angeles, then moved to Chula Vista, and worked for Forman and Clark as a sales associate and department manger and then at Broadway department store as a sales associate and department manager of jewelry and fine handbags, until her retirement. During her retirement, Grace taught CCD, counted the collections and worked in the Pantry with Mama D at St. Rose of Lima in Chula Vista. Grace loved her Catholic faith and was very devoted to Our Lord. Chela, was an avid reader and loved to take walks and talk to her friends at the courthouse while sitting on her porch. Her favorite phrases were, “that she was an independent woman” and then when asked how she was feeling she would always say, “just hanging in there”. She will be missed dearly, but we know that she is resting in peace with our Lord.
