Harris Quesnell Sr. who recently celebrated his 90th birthday peacefully passed on to his heavenly home in the predawn hours of Friday, July 20, 2012 after a strong and enduring battle with Parkinsons disease. He is survived by his wife Francis and four children: Ceri Castillo, Michéle Dawson, Harris Quesnell, Jr, Gerald Quesnell and grandchildren: Renée Dawson-Hooper, Joe Dawson, Aaron, Brian & Shawn Quesnell, Brandon Quesnell, and Allison Quesnell- Boman. .
Harris honorably served his country for 20 years in the Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean war. He was a founding father of St. Charles Elementary School in the Southbay which was established in 1948. Harris continued to serve his parish on numerous committee's, church event's and was an dedicated member of the Holy Name Society throughout his life. He served as Co-Manager and Volunteer for the South Bay Food Bank for 25 years and was a life time member of the Imperial Beach Fleet Reserve. Harris was an avid and dedicated Charger fan for decades and was honored and enlisted in the San Diego Hall of Champions, as a Charger Backer of the Year.
A Viewing and Rosary will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey Mortuary, Chula Vista, on Thursday, July 26, 5:30p.m. (viewing),6:30 p.m. (Rosary), Rose Chapel. Funeral services will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church, Saturn Blvd. San Diego, Friday, July 27, 1:30p.m. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
