

Jaime “Jimmy” (Peeky) Contreras II,35, passed away on August 2, 2021 in Eureka California of complications of COVID-19.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his great grandmother Rosa Valenzuela, great-great grandmother and great- great grandfather Maria and Francisco Perez and uncle Carlos Carranza. His paternal grand -parents Petra and Trinidad Contreras.
He is survived by his parents Sheilah Carranza Young and Jaime Contreras along with his loving step-father Kevin Young. He leaves behind his siblings Abel A. Rivera, Joseph R. Rivera, Emilio A. Rivera, sister Virginia M. (Rivera) Coughlin and step-siblings Ashly Young, Alex Young and, Amanda (Young) Eimers. He leaves behind his nephew Joseph Rivera and nieces Noelle Rivera, Gracie Rivera, Gloria Rivera and Ava Coughlin. He is also survived by his grandparents Raul and Frances Carranza and great grandmother Ramona Ormsby. He leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins that cover over 3 generations on the Carranza, Contreras, Perez, and Ormsby families.
Jimmy is also survived by his loving long-time partner Sonia Lopez, whom he had proposed to and was planning on marrying this year. They made their home in Eureka California because of their love of the ocean, the redwoods and sequoias forest. They both gave their lives to God and were members of the Eureka Pentecostal Church.
Jimmy was born in Mission Hills California on October 2, 1985 and moved with his family to Imperial Beach in 1994. He attended West View Elementary, Mar Vista Middle and Mar Vista High School. He made many of his lifelong friends in Imperial Beach along with an extended family that he loved so much.
Jimmy had a passion for music, playing guitar and piano. He also loved to compose his own music, write in his personal journals, and exploring the outdoors by taking long walks. He was an avid cat lover and loved his collection of Godzilla memorabilia that he had collected his whole life.
He will be remembered for his crazy antics such as acting out and imitating his favorite movie scenes and quotes and for his quirkiness, laughter, smile, and dimples.
In lieu of flowers you may honor and celebrate Jimmy's life in your own personal way and due to Covid-19, no reception will be held.
